Season 6 Is Coming!

It’s February and that means the OMBCL team is hard at work: exploring new ideas, interviewing expert guests, and producing episodes. We’d like to give you a sneak preview of what we’re hoping will be our best season ever!

Our first episode, out March 1st, will kick things off with a special look at how meditation can help MBC thrivers cope with the uncertainty and anxiety that comes from living with our diagnosis. We’ll be joined by meditation experts and members of our MBC support group for a thoughtful conversation that will include a guided mediation session.

In another “Road to A Cure” episode OMBCL-favorite Dr. Stephanie Graff, the Director of the Breast Oncology Program at Lifespan Cancer Institute, is back once again! She will share her perspective on the current trends and controversies in MBC research/treatment—and what they mean to each of us and the people who take care of us.

We also have a two-part series coming, dedicated to informing those newly-diagnosed patients out there. Most of us have never forgotten the moment we first learned that we had MBC. Whether it’s a de novo diagnosis that comes as a complete shock or a long-feared progression from early-stage BC, you can’t overstate the devastating and life-altering impact of the words “you have metastatic breast cancer." The fear and emotional trauma in combination with the tangled web of medical tests and decisions, can be overwhelming. This two-part series for newly diagnosed patients will include resources and reflections on how to weather this emotional rollercoaster, and a companion MBC 101 episode focusing on what every newly diagnosed patient needs to know about tests and treatment.

Next in the lineup, we’re excited to bring you an episode all about patient advocacy. Patient advocates are people who know MBC from the inside out and use their knowledge to fight for a better future for us all. They are on the frontlines of health care policy decisions, helping guide MBC research investment. They provide support and leadership to others with the disease. For many, helping others in the MBC community as patient advocates is a way to find meaning, friendship, and hope. But knowing how to get involved can be daunting. That’s why our new season includes a special episode on patient advocacy, hosted by Lesley Glenn and Abigail Johnston from Project Life MBC.

We’ll conclude our season with a look at what it’s like to live with MBC in the public eye. This episode will feature Kelly Crump, a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model with MBC, who will tell us about how she is using her celebrity status to bring attention to the disease.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled to bring this new season to you. If you don’t want to miss it, be sure to like and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts!
