From the Podcast Vault: Remembering Our Women

The Our MBC Life Podcast has delved deep into what living with MBC is like and, for that reason, has become a prime resource for the community. This month we are celebrating Women’s History Month by remembering four women who, in their own way, embodied SHARE’s philosophy that “no one should have to face cancer alone”.

Season 5 Episode 1: The Legacy of Lisa Laudico

“Lisa was a natural leader, and her passion for raising diverse voices and uniting those living with MBC was infectious,” according to close friend Victoria Goldberg. Diagnosed de novo with metastatic breast cancer in 2017, Lisa was the 4th generation in her family to have breast cancer. Lisa created Our MBC Life at the height of the pandemic to amplify the voices of fellow community members and share their day-to-day realities. Lisa’s story reminds us that we are all much, much more than our diagnosis. In August, 2022, Lisa died peacefully at the age of 56, surrounded by her family.

Season 4 Episode 1: Lara MacGregor: How to Decline Well With Hope

Lara was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 at the age of 30 and 7 months pregnant with her second son. A woman Lara had never met sent her a package of beautiful scarves to wear during cancer treatment and a note saying, “You can do this.” That gesture led Lara to create Hope Scarves in 2012, as a way to capture the stories of treatment and living with cancer. Today, Hope Scarves’ volunteers and staff send over 100 scarves a week all around the world. After almost 7 years in remission, Lara was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. In 2016, Hope Scarves established a Metastatic Breast Cancer Research Fund. Lara passed away in January 2022, at the age of 45.
